COVID-19 Information

What we are doing to ensure we can still run the event with the current restrictions

 General Information

We are currently working under Step 3 of the UK Government’s roadmap for easing Covid-19 restrictions. The Farnham Charity Bike Ride is permitted under Step 3 of the government’s guidelines.

Whilst we are not a British Cycling event, we have based our guidance and procedures on British Cycling’s research and guidelines for cycling events. This has been augmented by feedback from Waverley Borough Council’s Health and Safety department.

 What We Are Doing

  • NHS Track & Trace QR posters available at check-in/registration.
  • Hand sanitiser and sanitising wipes at check-in desks and refreshment points.
  • Face coverings available for those that wish to use them.
  • Social distancing reminder signs, backed up by gentle reminders from our marshals.
  • Start times for each route staggered to avoid large crowds of riders congregating on Castle Street. (Start times are; 75 mile – 08:00, 50 mile – 08:30, 25 mile – 09:00, 16 mile – 09:30) Marshals will monitor distancing between riders as they line up for the start.

 What You Can Do

  • Don’t turn up to the event if you are experiencing any signs/symptoms of Covid-19 (a high temperature, a new, continuous cough, a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste).
  • Base your arrival time at the event on your route start time (see What We Are Doing). Allow approximately 25 minutes for check-in and registration.
  • Bring your own water bottles and snacks where possible (our refreshment points will still be available).
  • Maintain social distancing (2m spacing) whilst on Castle Street and at refreshment points.
  • Maintain 1m spacing whilst cycling.
  • If our marshals ask you to increase the distance between yourself and fellow riders (particularly when on Castle Street, or at refreshment points) then please comply and be understanding.
